Our programs are aimed at treating various forms of substance use disorder, including:

Abuse Vs. Addiction

There is a distinct difference between substance abuse and addiction, and it is an important one. Just become someone does not consume an addictive substance every day, or even every week, does not mean they do not have a problem.

The true definition of substance abuse is continued use of a substance even when you know it harms your body, relationships, career, or other aspects of your life. This can be a tricky affliction to diagnose, as there are many things that can damage your body but are still fine to consume in moderation- such as red meat or sugary sweets.

An example of substance abuse would be someone who continues to drink alcohol even after they have suffered liver damage. They may not consume alcohol on a regular basis, but continuing to take a substance in excess quantities, even if it is only once in a while, knowing the damage it can do is not something that should be ignored.
