Our Mission and Who We Serve

The Carter Treatment Center was built to make high-quality addiction treatment accessible to the people who need it most. We proudly serve the metro Atlanta area with two welcoming outpatient treatment centers in Alpharetta and Jefferson, Georgia.

Whether you are just starting treatment, stepping down from inpatient care, or returning after a relapse, you can find the help you need here.

Our mission is simple: to provide evidence-based care that is rooted in compassion, not judgment. We know addiction is a disease, not a failure.

Recovery takes time, support, and the right tools. That is why we work with you to create a plan that fits your life. We respect your time, your privacy, and your personal recovery goals.

What Makes Us Different

We know that metro Atlanta residents have options for behavioral healthcare. There are many treatment programs, but not all of them feel personal. At The Carter Treatment Center, you are treated like family.

Here is what sets us apart:

Real Connection, Not Cookie-Cutter Treatment

Every person is different, so every treatment plan should be different too. Your plan is built around you, not around a set schedule or a one-size-fits-all model.

Clear Communication from Day One

You will always know what to expect. We explain the levels of care, the cost, and the treatment steps in plain language. There are no surprises and no hidden pressure.

Care That Grows with You

Recovery is not one moment. It is a journey. You can move between levels of care as your needs change, and we stay connected even after treatment ends.

You Are Never Alone Here

From group therapy to alumni support, you will find people who understand what you are going through and will stand with you through every stage of recovery.

You are never rushed, ignored, or judged. We listen. We guide. We support.

A Full Continuum of Outpatient Care

We know that life does not pause during recovery. That is why we offer multiple levels of outpatient treatment, so you can receive support while staying engaged with work, school, or family life.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our highest level of outpatient care. PHP provides full-day treatment with clinical therapy, recovery education, and daily structure. It is ideal for those who need focused support to stabilize and rebuild while still returning home at night.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)

A flexible treatment option, IOP blends therapy with everyday life. Clients attend several weekly sessions that address mental health, coping skills, and relapse prevention while still having room for work, school, or parenting.

Outpatient Treatment Program (OP)

Designed for people who are ready for continued progress and accountability after higher levels of care. OP offers weekly support through counseling, therapy, and recovery coaching.

Early Intervention Program

For people who are showing early signs of substance misuse or emotional distress. This program helps prevent addiction from growing by providing education, counseling, and early support before symptoms worsen.

Each level of care is designed to meet you where you are and help you move forward at a pace that feels right for you.

Treatment Options That Support the Whole Person

Addiction affects every part of a person’s life. That is why our treatment goes beyond just the substance. We offer specialized programs so you can receive the type of care that fits your experience and needs.

  • Medication assisted treatment (MAT): Helps reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms for certain substances, especially opioids and alcohol. MAT is always paired with counseling and therapy for full recovery support.
  • Veterans treatment program: Created for veterans who are struggling with substance use and mental health challenges such as PTSD, depression, or anxiety. Care is trauma-informed and culturally sensitive.
  • Sober living program: A safe, structured housing option for people who want a stable place to live while working on their recovery. Sober living helps clients build healthy routines and stay connected to support.
  • Co-occurring disorder treatment: For those who are dealing with both addiction and mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, or bipolar disorder. We treat both at the same time, because recovery works best when the whole person is treated together.

We are committed to Atlanta-area residents, families, and communities. Contact us today to learn more or get started.

Conditions and Substance Use Disorders We Treat

Addiction does not look the same for everyone. Some people struggle with alcohol. Others develop dependence on pain pills, stimulants, or illegal drugs. Many battle more than one substance at the same time. We treat them all.

Some of the most common substances we treat include:

No matter what you are struggling with, treatment is possible. You do not have to wait to “hit rock bottom” to get help. Healing can start today.

How We Treat: Evidence-Based and Person-Centered Care

The Carter Treatment Center uses proven therapies that help people understand addiction, change harmful patterns, and build healthy skills that support long-term recovery. Some of the methods we use include:

These therapies help you learn new ways to cope, communicate, and handle emotions without turning to substances. They also help rebuild confidence and self-worth, which are critical parts of recovery.
